Recovery Relapse

Although recovery from open heart surgery has gone relatively smooth....yesterday's "drama" gave me a bump in the road...sigh. The usual morning routine didn't go "as usual". I had just showered and was dressing when I had a gush and continual bleeding from an open spot in the middle of my incision....I've been doctoring the past few weeks because of this open area but this was a total surprise. So....I threw something on....held a towel on the site to keep pressure and was driven to the ER by my friend Terri to have a "look'n see". The bleeding did stop and I was sent to my surgeon's office for another look. It appears to be "fine" and I'm reassured that the open area is not deep and it must have had a pocket of blood that broke loose......sounds like speculation to me...but...what's a girl to do? So....it's "business as usual" and let's hope and pray it doesn't happen again. I'm a bit discouraged with how slow things seem to be going...just when I think I'm finding normal....there's a set back or limitation.
BUT...today has started out good. So....praise God. If you remember....prayers for incision healing, strength and better sleep at night would be appreciated.
Have a good day...Deb

  6. I haven't stopped by lately and just saw the "cardiac rehab graduate" post and so started to scroll back a bit to see if I could learn more...and then saw the open heart surgery comment here!! when you have the chance to drop me an email I'd love some details! My goodness!

(one of our twin girlies was born with a 5mm VSD, plus a very small ASD with some pulmonary stenosis. She had OH surgery to repair the defects at the age of 10 weeks...still sees her Dr. to monitor the stenosis every other year.

Praying for your continued healing and recovery!!
